Grappa has its origin in Italy and was named after the place "Bassano del Grappa", because it was distilled there for the first time.
The Italian digestif which is distilled from the pomace, a by-product of wine production, is often confused with a fruit brandy. However, the difference between these two specialties is quite simple to explain:
- A fruit brandy is distilled from the fermented pulp of a particular fruit, or even from mixed fruits
- Grappa is distilled from pomace (grape skins) and the fruit aroma is added after the distillation process
Grappa is distinguished according to its ageing period and the fruit aromas added. Its spicy aroma makes it an ideal digestif after a good meal and reflects the "Dolce Vita" from Italy.
Grappa Barolo Villa Mazzolini is a very tasty digestif from Italy.
With its full flavour, this speciality spirit rounds off a good meal perfectly and is also being served more and more often in our regions as a "digestive schnapps".
