A monumentally aged rum
That's how the Beverage Tasting Institute of Chicago summed up its appreciation for El Dorado's 21-year-old Special Reserve. Conceived for true rum connoisseurs, its warm subtlety is the best enjoyed slowly on its own merits and shared with some very special friends.
The Art of Rum
Demerara Distillers, Guyana, is unique
No other rum distillery in the world can boast of such a heritage. This is what enables them to offer such a variety of high quality award winning rums of different ages, styles and characters - an extensive range of over 20 different varieties.
Demerara Distillers has a unique position in the world of rum in continuing to operate the Still of original production used on three of the great Sugar Estates of the 18th and 19th centuries.
This still is original and the last surviving from the Enmore Sugar Estate, founded by Edward Henry Porter almost 200 years ago.
Since 1880, it has produced a medium-bodied rum with a mild, fruity aroma,
and its unique flavor is attributed to the wood structure of this
tall still, described by rum writer Dave Broom as a "giant filing cabinet."
Tasting
The outstanding colour and character of this exquisite rum are the creations of our Master Blender.
His special recipe blends specially selected rums, aged in oak casks at least 21 years old, from Enmore's wooden Coffey,
the only wooden jug from Versailles and the Albion Savalle.
Flavors:
Lush nose of tropical fruit and spice with hints of honey and dark sugar.
Round, smooth, full-bodied palate with rich flavors of fruit and spice.
