The Gaelic word from which the name Dalwhinnie is derived is Dail-coinneeamh, which translates as "meeting place". The highest distillery in Scotland was founded in 1898 on the central highland pastures.
Dalwhinnie, the classic Highland malt, ages slowly and develops remarkable character.Fifteen years of gentle aging make it a smooth, subtle malt without a hint of harshness. Heart-warming, but also soft and honeyed, it stands out for its combination of
subtlety and depth.
Where it counts, Dalwhinnie preserves the old traditions. A particularly long matured single malt. To achieve the perfection of 15 year old whisky is allowed to mature in oak casks.
Hidden depths are also evident. The smooth tasting Dalwhinnie yields flavours of creamy vanilla and a heather honey sweetness.
Dalwhinnie is the remote highland destination on a journey through the six Scottish regions where malt whisky is made. It is situated approximately 350 metres above sea level in the beautiful Cairngorm National Park.
