Cloudy Bay Te Wahi
Te Wahi means "the place" in te reo Māori, reflecting both the importance of the terroir and the sense of finding one's second home. This is a powerful wine with an opulent core of dark berry fruit and structured tannins. Over time, warm spices and notes of forest floor unfold and add complexity.
Winemaking
Most of the fruit from the two complementary Central Otago vineyards is destemmed and transferred to open fermentation tanks, with some grapes fermented whole. In the spring, the wine undergoes extended maceration and spontaneous malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for a year or more in French oak barrels before bottling.
